Get involved
Digital Impacts Schema & Taxonomy (DIST) is community driven and stewarded by Green Web Foundation for public benefit.
Want to get involved?
As an end user organisation
DIST is intented to help end user organisations understand (and ultimately quantify) the impact of their tech use so they can manage and migitate these impacts.
You can get started by mapping out your technology estate (in full or part), project, product or service using the categorisation the standard lays out. You can do this on your own using the materials on this website and GitHub or by engaging a partner to help you on this journey.
You might also like to flag gaps, inaccuracies, bugs or suggest improvements. The best way to do that is by raising an issue on the GitHub repo: https://github.com/thegreenwebfoundation/DIST/issues
As a technology company
We welcome usage of DIST and proposed contributions to it from the technology ecosystem. Particularly if you are able to share official data or guidance relating to impacts of tech that you produce, operate or distribute.
One of the easiest ways to do that is by raising an issue on the GitHub repo: https://github.com/thegreenwebfoundation/DIST/issues
##As a member of the sustainability community We welcome constructive challenge from the sustainability community particularly subject matter experts who understand specific impact areas (such as carbon, water, materials etc). We also welcome referencing and signposting of existing standards, reports, research and data that would enhance the usefulness of this project.
We are look for experts to help guide, governance and advise this project (although note this is run as a not-for-profit project so in most instances this would be on a voluntary basis).
We will list here areas that we would welcome expert contribution on:
- Health (Mental and Physical)
- Materials (including raw materials extraction, recycling and eWaste disposal)
- Land use / biodiversity impacts
