Contribute

DIST is an open framework, and we welcome community contributions. Individuals or organisations wishing to contribute a methodology to the DIST Methodologies Map should first read content of the sections below.

Submit a methodology using the GitHub template which is prefilled with all required contribution fields.

If you cannot use GitHub, please contact the Green Web Foundating using the online support form.

Below is a summary of the contribution guidelines and submission process that methodologies are expected to follow when being submitted to the DIST Methodologies Map.

Contribution guidelines

For a methodology to be considered for inclusion in the DIST Methodologies Map, it must:

  • Available through an online, accessible URL.
  • Must be submitted via a GitHub issue in the DIST repository.
  • Must be relevant to an existing DIST impact dimension.1
  • Must be relevant to at least one existing DIST category.2
  • Submissions must include information for all of the fields marked as required in the “Methodology fields” table below.

Further to these guidelines, all submissions should also meet the project’s general contribution guidelines as outlined in CONTRIBUTING.md.

Note: To suggest a new DIST impact dimension or taxonomy category, please create an issue in the DIST GitHub repository.

Contribution process

The process for including a methodology in the DIST Methodologies Map is outline below in text and visual formats.

  1. A GitHub issue is created using the provided template.
  2. A DIST maintainer will review the issue to ensure that it meets the submission and contribution guidelines.
    • Meets guidelines: A DIST maintainer will add the methodology to the DIST Methodologies Map
    • Does not meet guidelines: A DIST maintainer will leave feedback in the GitHub issue. The contributor can act on that feedback to prompt another review of the submission.
